The train that's taking away our freedoms and personal wealth is looking for more fuel. Iowa has one of the highest tax rates in the country. The only thing that has kept it even remotely close to other states is the fact that we can deduct our Federal taxes on our Iowa Taxes. But now - "The House speaker said Tuesday he supports ending the ability of Iowans to deduct federal tax payments ..." That talk is growing and gaining momentum. He says they will probably be discussing it in the next few weeks. To be accurate - the House speaker also says they will use it to cut taxes on the middle class. I'd be interested in knowing how many of you believe that! I'm afraid their track record would indicate otherwise.
You should also be watching for a strategy to be put into place where they actually end the session on time but then call a special session later. What that does is allow them to ignore the rule that says they can only spend 99% of the state budget.
